Cookie Exchange

Are you all ready for Christmas?
I'm not...haven't even started yet! WHAT???  I know, I know.
Haven't even gotten the tree decorated yet! It is up~ and has lights, but that is as far as we've gotten.
I am trying really hard to not be stressed out about all the "stuff".  And just taking things one day at a time.
Hopefully all the Merry Decor will be festively flung this weekend.

Last night, we had our neighborhood Cookie Exchange. Thanks to my brave neighbor, Heidi~ who hosts this every year.
Since I have lots of chocolate left-overs from the wedding, I decided to make something that would use some of that: Oreo Truffles.

I use Bakerella's recipe. You can find it here: Bakerella's Oreo Truffles
They turned out pretty well. They were ugly (I'm still working on my rolling and dipping technique) but they were good! Everyone was impressed. I was less than happy with the chocolate, though. It has good flavor~ but wasn't quite the same as the molding/dipping chocolate I usually use. It didn't set up very quickly, and it has a thinner consistency than the other stuff. And I still have a whole lot of chocolate left. Maybe I'll melt it down and pour it into my candy molds~ then it will be easier to eat!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful December.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

  1. I think they look good! I've decided that I like cookie exchanges! Not only do you get to have delicious cookies made by someone else but the recipe to go along with it AND the company of all those wonderful women!

I am not ready for Christmas yet. I don't know why I can't get out and shop until December! Now it's December 10th and I still haven't been out! Maybe I should get off the computer and go!

  2. Honestly,
can chocolate ever be ugly ??!! I don't think so, plus my taste buds don't care a bit how chocolate looks !
How fun to have a cookie exchange!
I have been so laid-back in my approach to Christmas this year, I am almost comatose.
    AND, LOVING IT !
Have a wonderful, yummy, chocolate filled weekend :)

  3. The cookies/cakies/truffles look good, and a cookie exchange sounds fun.

I'm glad I am not the only one who is not ready. No tree,no gifts bought and not really much of a clue as to what to get since my kids don't even know what they want. I do have two nativities displayed though but only because one was left set up in the curio cabinet all year and the other was an early Christmas gift from my SIL who goes to Africa all the time.

  4. A cookie exchange sounds like such fun! I might have to try to do one of those next year!
Or maybe I'll come to my senses and not try to do something like that next year.

    Your cookies looks delicious!
What kind of dipping chocolate do you use?
I'm a total fan of Peters Superlative. That's what I dip my chocolates with every year.

  5. You little sugarplum fairy! Those look so good, but I am off desserts and have been going strong for 5 months. You never realize how much food is a part of every holiday until you really start restricting yourself..

  6. I am hoping to start some Christmas shopping today, but haven't even made a list of what I'm looking for yet. Ugh!

I've made these truffles several times and they are such a big hit.
